Coordinating Early Intervening Services

What is this resource? The Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs issued guidance in 2008 that clarifies their current thinking on the use of Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CEIS). "CEIS are services provided to students in kindergarten through grade 12 (with a particular emphasis on students in kindergarten through grade three) who are not currently identified as needing special education or related services, but who need additional academic and behavioral supports to succeed in a general education environment."

Why is it valuable? This guidance provides valuable information to LEAs regarding the use of funds under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
