Creating a Vision

What is this resource? This webpage describes why creating a vision is important and what that vision needs to include. The page also has three helpful links: Principals' role in creating a vision; Exercise for identifying core beliefs; and Exercise for creating a shared vision. This page is part of a larger website dedicated to school improvement in Maryland.

Why is it valuable?Visioning helps schools, districts, and states determine the direction they want to go. Without a vision, there is no defined path and it's easy to get lost in the day-to-day details or multiple initiatives. Visioning is highly valued by SWIFT and is one of its TA Practices.
